The principle
Where Day 8 sought balance, today seeks tension. A composition with tension feels as if something is about to happen — an element pushed close to an edge, a mass that seems about to tip, a line that leads off the page. Tension holds attention because the eye keeps trying to resolve it.
Objective. Use asymmetry and placement to create visual tension.
The brief
Design a poster for a theatre thriller using a composition that feels deliberately unresolved.
Constraints
- At least one element placed very close to an edge
- No centred elements
- Maximum three colours
- Typography and simple shapes
You're done when
- A composition that feels unresolved in a deliberate way
- Tension that suits the subject
- Information still accessible
Stretch goal
Create tension with only two elements on the canvas.
