The principle
Design ultimately serves someone. Making a poster for a friend’s real event — a birthday, a gig, a garage sale, a bake sale — means listening, interpreting and delivering. Your personal style should help, not overwhelm, someone else’s message.
Objective. Apply your voice in service of another person’s needs.
The brief
Ask a friend, relative or local organisation if they have an upcoming event, and design its poster.
Constraints
- It must be a real event for a real person
- Ask them for a short brief and at least one round of feedback
- Balance your voice with their needs
You're done when
- A real poster for a real event
- Feedback received and considered
- A balance of voice and purpose
Stretch goal
Print it and see it on a wall.
