The principle
Music artwork translates sound into image. The best album art captures the feeling of the music — its tempo, warmth, texture and emotion — and becomes inseparable from it. Designing for a release means listening carefully and finding visual equivalents for what you hear.
Objective. Translate the qualities of music into visual form.
The brief
Choose a piece of instrumental music and design a release poster for it, as if it were a new album by a fictional artist.
Constraints
- Listen to the music at least three times before designing
- Write five words describing it, and design from those words
- Include artist name, album title and release date
You're done when
- Clear connection to the music
- A cohesive visual direction
- Release information present
Stretch goal
Design the square cover version as well and make both work together.
