The principle
Psychedelic posters of the 1960s, especially from San Francisco’s concert scene, broke every rule of legibility. Artists like Wes Wilson and Victor Moscoso used vibrating colours, flowing hand-drawn lettering and dense, ornate forms. The poster asked to be stared at — reading it was part of the experience.
Objective. Explore expressive legibility and vibrating colour.
The brief
Design a poster for an immersive light-and-sound installation using psychedelic principles.
Constraints
- Do not reproduce or trace an existing poster — use the principles, not the artefacts
- Flowing, hand-drawn or warped lettering
- Vibrating colour combinations
- The title must be decipherable with effort
You're done when
- Clearly psychedelic principles
- Expressive, original lettering
- Ultimately decipherable
Stretch goal
Fit the lettering into a specific shape, filling every gap.
