The principle
Texture adds tactile quality to flat designs. Instead of downloading textures, collect your own: pencil rubbings of tree bark, scanned fabric, photographed concrete. Textures you have gathered carry a story, and they make your work look different from everyone using the same free texture pack.
Objective. Gather original textures and use them to add depth to a poster.
The brief
Collect five textures from your surroundings and design a poster for a hiking club using at least three of them.
Constraints
- All textures must be collected by you — rubbings, scans or photographs
- Use at least three textures
- Maximum three colours
You're done when
- Original textures used intentionally
- Textures enhance rather than clutter
- A clear link to the subject
Stretch goal
Create letterforms entirely from your textures.
