The principle
Some posters carry a lot of information: names, dates, venues, times, sponsors. The challenge is to keep a dense poster readable and still visually interesting. Clear typographic hierarchy, consistent styles and good grouping let a viewer scan the essentials first and the details later.
Objective. Organise a large amount of typographic information into a clear, attractive system.
The brief
Design a lineup poster for a fictional three-day film festival with at least fifteen screenings.
Invent the festival name, the films, the venues and the screening times.
Constraints
- Typography only
- At least fifteen screenings across three days
- Maximum two typefaces
- Maximum three colours
You're done when
- All information present and readable
- Clear, consistent styles for each level
- A strong overall visual impression
Stretch goal
Design a style sheet showing every text style used, with its size, weight and spacing.
