Day 76: Copy of a Copy
Degrade an image on purpose.

- Time
- 45–60 minutes
- Canvas
- 1080 × 1350 px
The principle
Every reproduction loses information. Photocopy a photocopy ten times and the image becomes high-contrast, grainy and strange. Degradation can be a technique: it adds history and texture and can turn an ordinary image into something haunting.
Objective. Use generational degradation as a creative technique.
The brief
Copy, scan, screenshot or compress an image at least ten times in a row, and use the result in a poster for a punk gig.
Constraints
- At least ten generations of copying
- Keep each generation to show progression
- Use one or more generations in the poster
You're done when
- Visible generational degradation
- A thoughtful selection of generation
- Appropriate energy for the gig
Stretch goal
Degrade the type as well as the image.
